Crude Transport Has a Monthly Demand Problem
Crude oil transport from lease facilities has historically been unreliable, not because drivers are unavailable, but because monthly demand is uneven. Production builds in the first half of the month while marginal wells create a demand surge in the second half, producing a load spike that strains independent carriers at precisely the wrong moment.
Independent truckers follow the money. When demand spikes late in the month, competition for loads drives rates up and availability down, leaving producers with product in the tank and no truck on the way.
Dedicated Capacity, Steady Schedule
AMJ established Blue Jay Logistics to keep pickups steady on its own purchase agreements. Rather than relying on the spot market, AMJ schedules Blue Jay capacity across its producers so the monthly load curve stays roughly flat.
The result is consistent take-away for producers and a steady run rate for the fleet, regardless of where monthly production peaks.
Blue Jay operates under long-term agreement with AMJ, meaning its capacity is pre-committed and its schedule is actively managed rather than reactive.
Chemicals Hauling Division
In Q4 2025, Blue Jay completed the acquisition of a regional crude oil and chemicals transporter, adding capacity for contract chemicals hauling.
The division services paper mills, energy, and mining customers with chemicals used in their manufacturing and extraction processes. Typical commodities include caustic soda, methanol, NASH, and black liquor.
All chemical cargo moves on stainless-steel cargo tanks built to the DOT-407 / MC-307 specification: pressure-controlled, baffled, and certified for both crude and non-pressurized chemical service.
